Self Help Support Groups
These monthly meetings provide vital peer support and the exchange of problem-solving strategies to Cape Cod residents.
The groups are led by coordinators with visual impairments and sighted assistants to take attendance, help provide refreshments and guide participants.
Support Groups meet monthly at handicapped accessible locations throughout the Cape.
Assistive listening devices, speech enhancement equipment, and transportation are available for those who need it.
In addition to presentations on blindness and eye disease from groups like the Mass Equipment Program, the Perkins School, and the MA Commission for the Blind, the groups often have speakers from organizations like the CCRTA and ‘Housecalls’ medical services to inform and offer help with other facets of life as a person with a handicap on Cape.
