Social Enrichment Activities
This program focuses on the social aspects of living with a visual impairment and attempts to mitigate the feelings of loneliness, isolation and depression that can accompany loss of vision.
We organize trips not only to the Cape Cod Symphony, but also to concerts and smaller events at local libraries and COA’s.
We hold art classes for people with visual impairments at various locations throughout the Cape, taught by our instructor with visual impairment. Painting, sculpture and collage are the main offerings.
Sharing a meal amongst friends who face the same challenges as you without fear of embarrassment is priceless, so we hold pizza parties in our office or visit local restaurants.
Sing-Alongs are a favorite activity; we partner with the local Knights of Columbus, local Lions Clubs and local musicians and organize at least two of those per year.
Future social activities being planned are trips to the Cape Cod Mall, bird “watching” by listening, and square dancing.
