About Us
You don’t have to face vision loss alone. Sight Loss Services is here to help.
Founded in 1981 and organized as a 501(c)(3) organization in 1987, Sight Loss Services offers programs and services exclusively to Cape and Islands residents. The Cape is one of the fastest-growing regions in the state for visual impairment, mainly due to its increasing elderly population, as many eye diseases are age-related. We do not accept or require insurance. We do not charge any fees for any of our services. Our services are available to all Cape residents regardless of age, degree of vision loss, or eye condition. During 2024, our agency responded to over 7,870 requests from 1,839 residents from the Cape and Islands in need of service.
Our Mission
We empower people experiencing vision loss to live independently, confidently, and fully engaged in their communities.
Through personalized training, adaptive tools, and compassionate support, we help individuals adjust to sight loss, regain confidence, and stay connected to the world around them.
Our Vision
A world where vision loss doesn’t mean loss of independence, connection, or purpose.
We envision inclusive communities where every person, regardless of their sight, has an equal opportunity to thrive, contribute, and feel at home.
